The Lisa McGraw ’44 Ice Rink is one of only three school rinks in the state of New Jersey (two of which we constructed by V. J. Scozzari & Sons, Inc.) This project combined the Design-Build form of project delivery and the Integrated Project Delivery method to produce a state of the art, year round, 35,000 square foot Ice Skating and Hockey Rink. The Design-Build Team lead by V. J. Scozzari & Sons, Inc. commenced with the municipal approval process and decommissioning and deconstruction of the previously existing Ice Rink. That facility was deconstructed and reconstructed at a new unrelated off-site location. The new facility required site improvements and an entirely new Ice Rink Facility. The ice sheet was designed and constructed in association with Toromont Industries, Ltd. – CIMCO (formerly Canadian Ice Machine Co. Ltd.). The facility also incorporated an energy efficient Munters Desiccant Dehumidification System to provide both a high quality ice sheet and superior fresh indoor air quality. Special attention was given to the dual use of the facility as both a premiere Figure Skating venue and a Hockey Rink. The facility also included Changing Rooms as well as Home Team and Visiting Team Locker Rooms, a large Viewing/Gathering Room, a private meeting room, offices, a concession station, and separate mechanical and equipment spaces. The new facility was constructed between ice skating and hockey seasons so that neither the figure skating or ice hockey clubs or teams regular season schedules were impacted.
