Students, Faculty, Staff, Trustees, Parents, Project Site Superintendent Ed Roche and Guests all took part in Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

On the first day of school, Headmaster Richard Johnson and other school officials formally opened the new Chapin Lower School. The ribbon cutting ceremony marked the successful opening of the second and third phases of the Limitless Futures: Investing in the Children of Chapin, a two year multi-phase $13,000,000 construction project managed by V. J. Scozzari & Sons, Inc. The opening of the 13,300 square foot Lower School (Phase two of the work) includes four new classrooms, a science lab, a library with technology center, offices and a large commons area that will provide superb teaching and learning spaces for Chapin students in grades Pre-K through Four. In addition the newly renovated Middle School was also opened. This project consisted of the installation of new heating and air conditioning systems, roofing replacement, and included extensive interior improvements in hallways and classrooms. Last summer the efficiency of the middle school exterior was significantly enhanced with new insulation, windows, roofing and siding. And in closing out this portion of the project, a former library space was renovated to create a new choral music room to support Chapin’s burgeoning music program.

All of the construction and improvements have been undertaken with strict adherence to the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) requirements for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Headmaster Richard Johnson, wrote in describing the work “To you and all the good people at Scozzari, please accept our genuine appreciation for helping to make this happen. On time and on budget, it just doesn’t get any better in construction”.
