Princeton, NJ – November 4, 2013 V.J. SCOZZARI & SONS, INC. is proud to participate in the Ground Breaking Ceremony with the Chapin School.

V.J. Scozzari & Sons, Inc. has been selected as the Construction Manager for the $13.0 Million campus expansion project for the Chapin School. The Limitless Futures – Investing in the Children of Chapin campaign consists of interior and exterior renovations and alterations to the existing Upper School, a new Lower School 13,000 square foot single story addition; and a new two story 14,000 square foot Upper School building. The project also includes the removal of existing obsolete buildings and associated site improvements.

The first phase of the expansion is the renovation to the existing Upper School to be completed during the summer break of 2013. This work will focus on dramatically improving the energy efficiency and the interior and exterior appearances of the existing Upper School wing of the school. The scope of this project includes new insulation, Hardie Board fiber cement siding and Boral cultured stone veneer, new windows and roofing. The interior work of the project, to be completed during the summer break of 2014, will include a complete interior renovation of the existing Upper School, the addition of a full science room, as well as new furniture, furnishings and equipment. The mechanical, electrical and lighting systems are also being replaced by high efficiency equipment.

The second phase of the expansion commencing in the 3rd quarter of 2013, includes an addition to the Lower School. The 13,000 sf addition will include classrooms, a library, technology center, science room, bathrooms and a large commons area.  This building is being constructed, inspected and submitted to the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) as a LEED 2009 for Schools New Construction Gold Building. The building will borrow the exterior finished of the Lower School renovation project, while following an exciting look and design intended to merge a contemporary design with the traditional appearance of the existing campus buildings.

The Upper School Addition will be the third phase of the campus expansion, commencing during the summer of 2014 and will include classrooms, a library, bathrooms and a large commons area.  This building is being designed and constructed to the same high standards as the Upper School renovation work and the Lower School addition adhering to the standards established by the (USGBC) as a LEED 2009 for Schools New Construction Gold Building.

The campus expansion project also includes improved vehicular access to the campus, relocated playgrounds, the replacement of septic systems, and wetlands mitigation and restoration work.
