New Brunswick, NJ – October 29, 2015 V. J. SCOZZARI & SONS, INC. is proud to announce the firm’s receipt of three Excellence in Construction Awards from the New Jersey Chapter of the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. (ABC-NJ).

The Excellence in Construction competition is an opportunity for ABC-NJ Member firms to join other member contractors and be recognized by ABC-NJ as the “Best of the Best” in the construction industry. The goal is to create greater awareness throughout The State of New Jersey of the quantity and quality of work being produced by the ABC-NJ members and continue to raise the standards throughout the construction industry.

The TROIL Enterprises facility in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, NJ received ABC-NJ highest honor, the Eagle Award. V. J. Scozzari & Sons, Inc. provided Pre-Construction Services, including Design, Estimating, Scheduling, and Constructability Reviews associated with the Designing and Construction of a new 26,000 square foot headquarters/warehouse facility, a new 2,400 square foot utility building and an 8,000 square foot Tank Storage Building. The new facility was specifically designed and constructed to meet the special needs of Troil’s receiving, packaging and distribution of a full line of lubricants in both bulk and package forms, as well as the distribution of industrial solvents, and chemicals. The project included complete site improvements, as well as the building construction for corporate offices, staging areas, and specialty construction and systems for the petroleum and solvent storage and distribution, including five (5) multi-compartment  28,000 gallon storage tanks with catwalks, and specialty valving, gauging, PLC control panels, pumps, piping, and explosion resistant systems.

The firm also received a Merit Award for their work on the TRUMPF Photonics Cranbury, NJ Facility. This project was a multi phased expansion for the German based company. The project provided TRUMPF with a new 6,180 square foot 35’ high mechanical room design to accommodate a significant expansion of process related systems and equipment to support the Research & Development purposes of the facility and to provide redundancy in support systems. The work included the addition of three cooling towers and multiple chillers providing over 450 tons of supplemental process cooling. A second phase included a 6,420 square foot addition to provide employee amenities including a café, a kitchen, employee meeting rooms, locker rooms, and ancillary amenities. The employee amenity addition is design to support a future second floor addition.

The firm’s third award, was a Merit award for the Limitless Futures: Investing in the Children of Chapin, a multi-year, multi-phase $13,000,000 campus expansion program for the Independent School.

The 13,300 square foot single story Lower School Addition included four new classrooms, a science lab, a library with technology center, offices and a large commons area that provided superb teaching and learning spaces for Chapin students in grades Pre-K through Four. This project consisted of the installation of new high efficiency heating and air conditioning systems, lighting systems, and energy savings features such as enhanced insulation and windows. Site improvements included relocation of playgrounds, equipment, new septic fields, lighting and landscaping.

The third and final Phase of the Limitless Futures initiative was a 14,000 square foot two-story addition to the Upper School which provided six classrooms, a Library/Information Center, Technology Center and a commons area.

All of construction and improvements were undertaken with strict adherence to the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) requirements for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Standards.
